正方一辩(江煜):“Distinguished judges and audience members, hello! Today we argue that the benefits of social media on young people outweigh the harms. First, social media provides an unprecedented platform for teenagers. Through social media, teenagers can reach out to cul tures, knowledge and information from around the world, broaden their horizons and grow their understanding. For example, many teenagers take part in international cultural exchanges, learn foreign languages and understand the history and culture of different countries through social media. Second, social media provides a wealth of learning resources for teenagers. Many online courses, academic lectures and educational videos are easily accessible through social media, greatly facilitating the learning and development of young people. Finally, social media also provides a stage for teenagers to express themselves and show their talents. Many young people have enhanced their self-confidence by sharing their music, paintings, writing and encouragement from others.”(尊敬的评委、各位观众,大家好!
反方一辩:“Distinguished judges and audience members, hello! Today, we argue that the impact of social media on youth does more harm than good. First, social media poses a serious threat to adolescents' mental health. Cyberbullying is a problem that cannot be ignored. Many teenagers are traumatized by malicious comments and attacks on the Internet, which can even lead to psychological problems such as autism and depression. Second, disinformation and bad content on social media misleads teenagers about their values. Teenagers are at a critical time in their values formation, and social media is full of violence, pornography, fake ads and other content that can negatively affect their thinking. Finally, over-reliance on social media can lead to a deterioration in teenagers' social skills. Many teenagers are addicted to virtual social interactions while neglecting real-life interactions, causing their real-life relations to become strained and distant.”(尊敬的评委、各位观众,大家好!
正方二辩(贺芹):“Distinguished judges and audience members, hello! The problem of cyberbullying and disinformation mentioned by the opposition is certainly real, but we must not choke off food. Social media platforms are also increasingly enforcing regulations to reduce the incidence of online violence through technical means and manual moderation. Moreover, we can improve teenagers' online literacy by educating and guiding them to use social media correctly. As for the issue of disinformation, it's also an issue of education and regulation. We can use school education and family guidance to let teenagers learn to discern the authenticity of information and improve their information literacy. In addition, the positive role of social media cannot be ignored. It provides a platform for teenagers to showcase themselves and realize their dreams. Many young people have gained opportunities and realized their life worth through social media. For example, many teenagers have become Internet celebrity through their hard work and talents.”(尊敬的评委、各位观众,大家好!
反方二辩:“Although the supervision and education mentioned in the second round of the debate are important, in reality, the effects of these measures are not ideal. The problem of cyberbullying and disinformation continues to grow. And even greater regulation will not eliminate these problems altogether. Adolescents are vulnerable to misinformation due to a lack of adequate social experience and judgment. Social media also has a serious impact on the physical health of teenagers. Prolonged use of social media can lead to vision loss and cervical spondylosis, which are becoming more common among teenagers.”(正方二辩提到的监管和教育固然重要,但在现实中,这些措施的效果并不理想。
正方三辩(江煜):“The negative impact of social media on the physical health of teenagers, as mentioned in the third rebuttal, can actually be avoided through reasonable use. We can reduce the occurrence of these problems by setting time limits for use and by promoting knowledge about healthy eye use. And, just because there are some problems with social media, we can't deny the huge benefits it brings. Social media provides a platform for teenagers to showcase themselves and realize their dreams. Many young people have gained opportunities and realized their life worth through social media. For example, many teenagers have become Internet celebrity through social media, gaining social recognition and respect through their hard work and talents. In addition, social media also provides a platform for young people to learn and communicate, helping them better adapt to the development of modern society.”(反方二辩提到的社交媒体对青少年身体健康的负面影响,其实也是可以通过合理使用来避免的。
反方三辩:“The reasonable use of social media mentioned in the third argument of the pro side sounds beautiful, but it is difficult to achieve in reality. Teenagers are easily addicted to social media due to their relatively weak self-control. And even if they can use it reasonably, they can't entirely avoid the negative effects of social media. Issues such as cyberbullying and disinformation are not isolated phenomena, but general problems. These issues have a profound impact on the mental health and values of teenagers. We cannot afford to ignore the greater harm that social media brings just because it brings some benefits.”(正方三辩提到的合理使用社交媒体,听起来很美好,但在现实中却很难实现。
